Beautiful British Escapes
As we emerge from the lockdown, some of Britain's best loved hotels are planning to reopen in July and will hopefully give us the opportunity to spend more time with friends and family, while also exploring some of our beautiful island. Here are a few of our favourite UK hotels to discover without jumping on a plane.
THE NEWT IN SOMERSET is a newly-restored historic country estate near Bruton. With a focus on all things local to celebrate the history and heritage of Somerset, the historic estate and gardens have been lovingly transformed by Karen Roos, the owner of the award-winning hotel and gardens, Babylonstoren, in South Africa’s Franschhoek valley - so you can channel the vineyards in the British countryside.
THE FISH - Sister property to Dormy House and Foxhill Manor, the flawless stylings of The Fish hotel in the Cotswolds ticks all of the boxes when it comes to relaxed country getaways. 63 scandi-chic bedrooms are spread throughout various restored buildings. The Fish also has Hilly Huts with private hot tubs and even Treehouses nestled into the woodland!
THE PIG AT HARLYN BAY - Due to open on July 31st, one of Cornwall’s most historic houses dating back to the 15th century, THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay has far-reaching sea views, oodles of quirks and character and stacks of original features. Just a short stroll from Harlyn beach and Constantine Bay beaches, the newest member of the PIG family is only a 10-minute drive to the picturesque port of Padstow (with amazing seafood from Restaurateurs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth).
THE FIFE ARMS - Jump on the sleeper train to Aberdeen and discover the historic Scottish village of Braemar, The Fife Arms is a Victorian coaching inn that has been imaginatively restored. Celebrating Scotland’s rich heritage and craftsmanship, the hotel is surrounded by the majestic landscape of Royal Deeside and a perfect base to explore the beautiful countryside. The hotel has an impressive art collection which includes a Picasso in the lobby.
LIMEWOOD - Set in the heart of the stunning New Forest National Park, Lime Wood offers laid-back luxury at its best – the perfect secluded hideaway escape just an hour and a half drive from London. Originally a mediaeval hunting lodge way back in the 13th century, this hotel features a stunning spa for a wonderful English Escape.
